The metamorphosis occurs, and a new, muscle-bound, shield-wielding Captain America has emerged… As moviegoers, we can only imagine what it might be like to don that red, white, and blue suit, but there is one person who can actually describe it. His name is Chris Evans, and he is a native of Sudbury.

recently had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Evans, who starred in Captain America: The First Avenger, the 2011 summer blockbuster that grossed a
reported $368 million worldwide. Evans was joined by his mom, Lisa Evans, at the Concord Youth Theatre, where he first launched his early acting career. Relaxed and happy, Evans offers us a rare peek into how he evolved into Captain America and does so with candor and humility, graciously providing insightful, introspec- tive, and oftentimes downright witty responses in a voice that would sound strikingly famil- iar to his superhero fans. Chris, most of America knows you as Steve Rogers aka Captain America. How did you come to be Captain America?

I was in Houston working on a film, and I got a call saying they wanted me to come in and audition for the job. I was a little apprehensive because it was a big commitment, and it was a six-picture deal with a lot of exposure. It's the type of movie … it could change your life, you know, and that was a little intimidating for me. So I said, no. I was intimidated about
