Why?
For so many reasons. It's a great platform to practice. If you really enjoy acting, you need an audience. It's not like an instrument where you can just go to your room and practice.
CYT gave me a stage. And aside from that, even if you don't want to pursue a career as an actor, there's something about this place that's so … I don't know. School can be tough. School is always tough for kids. There's a type of kid who does theater. Those types of kids are fun, sweet, open- hearted, kind people, and this was just a really great place to come.
What's the first play that you did? It was called A Wrinkle in Time. I had a very small role.
Did you get hooked? Completely. I said, I'm doing all these. I must have done fifteen or twenty shows here. It was great.
I've seen that you sometimes make a guest appearance here still and that CYT kids were actually extras in your 2011 movie What's Your Number. Why do you choose to continue to be involved with the CYT? Because I'd have a different life without this place. I wonder if I even would have found acting? It certainly wasn't on my radar. I saw a play and said, 'I'll give it a try,
' and ending up falling in love with it.
What was it like growing up in Sudbury? I loved Sudbury.
What do you love about it? So many intangible things. I love the way it
