One of the most varied offerings of music for all ages is at Main Streets. Besides the regularly scheduled music that is different virtually every night – a tribute to Schmidt's many connections to the local music scene — it offers a musical review of local women artists hosted by Janice Anderson on the first and third Wednesday of the month, and on the last Wednesday of the month it pres- ents short films paired with original music.
Get on Your Feet
Another big draw of the local music scene is dancing. To get a fix, spend a Saturday night at Main Streets listening to Breaktime, a six-piece band made up of mostly area musicians. Their mix of soul, blues, rock, pop, and jazz gets a large group of locals, including some children, up and dancing. That's especially true when Charlie Koch, one of the band's two singers, ventures into the crowd and leads people to the dance floor. Many people sitting down and watching are moving too.
